Heart-Shaped Puff Pastries with Herbed Cheese & Alfalfa Sprouts

Ingredients

  • ½ cup alfalfa sprouts
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • ½ cup cream cheese or ricotta
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • Freshly ground pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • A few drops of fresh lemon juice
  • Optional: honey or pink peppercorns

Heart-Shaped Puff Pastries with Herbed Cheese & Alfalfa Sprouts

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. 2. Lightly roll out puff pastry and cut into heart shapes using a cutter or knife.
  3. 3. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until puffed and golden. Let cool slightly, then slice each heart in half horizontally.
  4. 4. Mix cheese with lemon zest, lemon juice, and pepper.
  5. 5. Spread cheese on the bottom half of each pastry, top with alfalfa sprouts, and close with the top half.
  6. 6. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and, if desired, a touch of honey or pink peppercorns.
