Heart-Shaped Puff Pastries with Herbed Cheese & Alfalfa Sprouts
Ingredients
- ½ cup alfalfa sprouts
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- ½ cup cream cheese or ricotta
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- Freshly ground pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- A few drops of fresh lemon juice
- Optional: honey or pink peppercorns

Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- 2. Lightly roll out puff pastry and cut into heart shapes using a cutter or knife.
- 3. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until puffed and golden. Let cool slightly, then slice each heart in half horizontally.
- 4. Mix cheese with lemon zest, lemon juice, and pepper.
- 5. Spread cheese on the bottom half of each pastry, top with alfalfa sprouts, and close with the top half.
- 6. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and, if desired, a touch of honey or pink peppercorns.
